
Professor Jesper de Claville Christiansen is a leading expert in materials science at Aalborg University, with a strong focus on sustainable technologies and circular economy solutions. His research spans polymers, soft matter physics, nanocomposites, and the recycling of plastics. He has coordinated major European and national projects, including the FP7 EVOLUTION and NANOTOUGH initiatives, and served as Principal Investigator for the RHQI project on high-quality industrial plastic recycling, funded by Innovation Fund Denmark. He holds an MSc and PhD from Aalborg University, with part of his doctoral work conducted at Brunel University under the Danish Research Academy.
His work bridges fundamental science and industrial application, with a particular emphasis on advancing sustainable materials and reducing environmental impact.
Professor Christiansen has authored numerous publications on polymer degradation, recycling, and bio-based materials, and actively contributes to shaping research agendas in sustainability. He leads the doctoral program in Materials and Production at Aalborg University and serves as a national expert in the Horizon Europe Program Committee. His international collaborations span Europe, USA and Asia, and he was knighted by Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark for his contributions to science and education.
